I may be one of the oddest people around. I took a couple of days off from work, paid good money for a cabin rental, drove 8 hours to get here, and I really donât care if it rains from now until the minute we leave for home. The weather here in the Asheville area has been rainy since the moment we got here on Wednesday afternoon. The rain is supposed to continue until Sunday morning, right around the time I pack the mutts and our junk into the car and head home. You know what? I could care less. Iâve read two books, played cards on Pogo, enjoyed the hot tub, and gotten very wet in the rain with the dogs. Iâm even getting used to the wet dog smell that is permeating the cabin. Ahhh.
Clover and Cosmo are pretty happy to be back here. They have been in and out of the lake, up and down the deck stairs 2,000 times, and have been spotted under the bird feeder waiting for a cardinal to loose its footing and fall in their laps. They have both tried to climb into the hot tub (no luck with that), and have been so worn out from chasing each other that they have collapsed on the floor to snore the night away.

“I really need to get out there and chase those ducks away, NOW!”

“Why do you want to chase those ducks, again? Just leave them be, they haven’t done anything to you.”
Clover here. Just thought I would pop in and let you know that something is afoot! Your woman is in the midst of packing a suitcase, gathering our toys, and at the moment she is doing laundry. Laundry! On a Tuesday! I tell you, something is going on.
Cosmo here. Woohoo! Iâm pretty sure that weâre going on a road-trip. All the signs are there, but I just canât figure out where or when! I just hope she remembers the food and the toys and my bed and some treats, too. Woohoo! Stay tuned, folks. Â Commentary and photos from your woman to follow, soon!
Update 3/25 @ 6:05 p.m. : Woohoo! Weâre at our favorite place in North Carolina outside of Asheville where there is a lake and its raining and we can run up and down the stairs outside and we already went swimming and we stink like stinky wet dogs and â¦. whew! I think this is going to be a whole lot of fun! Clover is trying to chase the chickens, and I saw a rabbit and Your Woman went to get some groceries and brought us some yummy treats.  Uhh Oh! I am so excited, I sound like Clover now! Gotta go now, I see a rabbit and it must be chased. Your friend, Cosmo.
Update 3/26 @ 11:12 a.m.: YES! I am wet, smell funky, its raining. Its a good day. A very good day. Chased some ducks, tried to drown Cosmo, must nap now. Very tired. Your friend, Clover. Oh, yeah, Your Woman said to tell you the camera needs charging so maybe some photos tomorrow.
Not my dog, because this is a âcostume free zone.â
I took this photo ages ago, and in keeping with the upcoming celebration of St. Patrickâs Day, I thought I would share. I took this from the roof of a car park behind Grafton Street in Dublin, and the shot is looking North.
Can you spot my shadow?
A couple of months ago, I was at the nearby Harris-Teeter grocery store, and found myself on the pasta/rice aisle. I noticed they had Barilla pasta on sale for 10 for $ 10, and I stepped back so a woman with an overloaded cart and a small boy of about 5 years old could pass by. She stopped to look at the pasta too, and I asked the little boy which type of pasta was his favorite. Cute as could be, he pipes up and says âthe screwdriver kind.â He went over to the shelf, grabbed a box of rotini and put it in my basket for me.
It was at that point when the mother, with a conspiratorial look over her left shoulder, then her right one, and in a whisper, she leaned in and said, âI donât want to talk out of turn, but these are 10 for $ 10 here, but the same brand is much cheaper at the Giant grocery store.â No kidding! 10 for $ 10 is a pretty good price! She says, âThe price at Giant is much better. The same brand is only 5 for $ 5.â
She smiled, the kid gave me a wave, and they went along their way. All I could think was that I hoped she wasnât homeschooling her kid.
I was tagged by Bruce at Bruceâs Paws Blog and awarded the Honest Scrap award. I have already posted Cloverâs 10 Honest Things. Here are Cosmosâs 10 Honest Things:
- I was born in Virginia and my human ârescuedâ me from an idiot that thought giving me as a Christmas gift to her little kid was a good idea and then changed her mind. Thank you Craigslist!
I can swim! I donât care what anyone says, SHE was trying to drown me, not the other way around.- I donât bark very much, but I like to woofle.
- I HATE getting my nails clipped, but I LOVE getting my teeth brushed. Go figure!
- I have never ever chewed on anything that I wasnât supposed to. Ever â¦â¦ Oh, ok, only once, but it was a towel and âsheâ should have picked it up off the floor when she was done taking a shower. Thatâs it. That was the ONE and ONLY thing I ever chewed on. Really. Its true.
I really really hate squirrels, and one day I intend to catch one. Donât know what Iâll do with it if I do, but Iâm going to .. you just wait and see.
I love the snow.- I am a very tolerant fella, and donât complain much about anything.
- I really wish I had a big back yard to chase Clover around. I love to run.
- I have never been on a plane, and from what Clover says, Iâm not looking forward to going flying.
They finally showed their face to the world, so the guessing is over. My volunteer daffodils:
